OUR STORY

The Journey Begins

MLB Family Ministries Inc. began with Michael’s Ball’s decision to share his life story through writing in 2021. Through his book, A Fall to Grace, Michael’s testimony offered hope to those incarcerated and struggling with addiction and faith.

As the book was being published, Michael’s wife, Lori, received an encouragement from a dear friend to become a Life Coach. So, in 2022, she started classes for her certification as a Life Recovery Coach to help people struggling with addiction, self-destructive behaviors and life transitions.

It was as if there were pieces of the puzzle on the table and God was starting to put them together!

Opening New Paths

At a local church speaking engagement, Michael spoke at three consecutive services. After each service, people lined up to inquire about how to get help for themselves or a family member. Michael could barely break away to get ready for the next service. It was obvious to Michael and Lori that Christians struggle with addictions and their consequences, just like everyone else.

MLB Family Ministries Inc. continues to seek effective ways to help those that are incarcerated find the tools and learn the skills they need to re-enter society and become productive members. Michael frequently speaks at prisons and re-entry centers across Florida, sharing his message of hope.

WHO WE ARE

MEET OUR FOUNDERS

MICHAEL BALL

Michael Ball is an author and speaker, a certified Genesis Relapse Prevention Coach, and a retired merchant mariner captain. He uses his own journey from addiction and incarceration to provide hope and guidance to others seeking recovery.

Michael’s work focuses on helping incarcerated individuals find the tools and resources they need to re-enter society and become productive members.

As the founder of MLB Family Ministries, Michael shares his powerful testimony through speaking engagements at prisons, re-entry centers, churches, and community events. His book, A Fall to Grace, captures his life story and serves as an inspiration for many struggling with addiction and faith.

In addition to his ministry work, Michael volunteers with Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree program and serves on the advisory board for the Florida Foundation for Correctional Excellence.

His dedication to helping others is fueled by his own experiences and his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Learn more about his journey and how he continues to make a difference in the lives of others.

LORI BALL

Lori Ball is a certified Christian Life Recovery Coach and Addiction Specialist who utilizes the Genesis Relapse Prevention Program in both group and individual sessions to assist clients seeking recovery. She works at a Christian mental health facility and maintains a private practice.

She specializes in helping individuals struggling with addiction or other self-destructive coping behaviors. Additionally, she supports women during significant life transitions, such as the death of a spouse, divorce, empty nest, career changes, or living with someone facing active addiction.

Lori brings a unique perspective to her clients, drawing from her own journey through active addiction and decades of recovery and continued growth. She has also experienced the challenges and trials of her spouse’s addiction and recovery.

Beyond her private practice, Lori leads recovery groups in local jails and was recently invited to speak at Lowell Correctional Institution as a Leader in Women’s Industries. Together, Michael and Lori offer vital support to those beginning to reintegrate into society.

OUR PROGRAMS

WHAT WE DO

Prison Outreach & Speaking Engagements

We actively engage with inmates across Florida, sharing messages of hope and transformation. Through speaking engagements at various correctional facilities, we help inmates envision a brighter future and provide them with the tools to achieve it.

Advisory Board Participation

As a member of the Advisory Board for the Florida Foundation for Correctional Excellence, we contribute to creating effective re-entry programs. Our goal is to support formerly incarcerated individuals in successfully reintegrating into society.

Angel Tree Program

Volunteering with Prison Fellowship, we participate in the Angel Tree Program, bringing joy to children of inmates during the Christmas season. This initiative helps maintain family bonds and brings hope to both parents and children.

Book Studies & Discussions

Michael’s book, A Fall to Grace, is used in correctional institutions for book studies and discussions. These sessions provide inmates with insights and inspiration from Michael’s journey, fostering personal growth and rehabilitation.

Book Donations

We donate copies of A Fall to Grace to prisons across Florida. By sharing this powerful story, we aim to inspire and guide inmates on their path to recovery and redemption.

Faith & Recovery Testimonials

We share our testimony at churches and mental health clinics, offering hope and guidance to those struggling with addiction and life’s challenges. Our story resonates with many, encouraging them to seek help and find faith.

Community Outreach

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Support

We support mental health initiatives that provide guidance to first responders dealing with stress and trauma. We also support ministries and organizations that offer practical advice to help them cope effectively.
